Annonaceae : The Custard-Apple Family

Only one species of this family has been collected in the Oapan, San Juan Tetelcingo, and Ameyaltepec area. However, one consultant from Ameyaltepec distinguished between two annona trees on the basis of the color of their fruit, purple or white. Another onsultant from Ameyaltepec and one from Tetelcingo stated that they did not recognize this difference, and ascribed the same name to both trees. Western botanists apparently recognize only one variant of this tree.

The following members of this family have been documented in sources consulted on Guerrero flora: Annona squamosa.
